Birthday Countdown Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-09
This policy explains what information the Birthday Countdown & Reminder app ("the app") for iPhone collects, why, and what choices you have. The app is published by Endurance Apptitude ("we", "us").
The short version
- Your birthdays stay on your device. Names, dates, notes, groups and reminders you enter are stored only on your iPhone. We never receive them.
- We collect anonymous usage statistics (Google Firebase Analytics) to understand which features are used and improve the app.
- We process subscription purchases through RevenueCat, using an anonymous identifier, to know whether you have Premium.
- We have no accounts, no ads, and no tracking across other companies' apps or websites. We do not sell your data.
1. Information that stays on your device
| Data | Where it lives | Do we receive it? |
|---|---|---|
| Birthdays: first and last name, day and month, notes, groups/tags, archived status | Your iPhone (shared with the app's home-screen widget through an App Group) | No |
| Reminder settings and the reminder notifications themselves | Scheduled as local notifications by iOS on your iPhone | No |
| App preferences (onboarding completed, appearance, group colors, review-prompt counters) | Your iPhone | No |
- Reminders are local notifications created on your device. They are not sent through any server and we do not use push notifications.
- CSV export (Premium) creates a file on your device and opens the iOS Mail composer or share sheet. The file goes only where you choose to send it; we do not receive a copy.
- If you delete the app, this data is deleted from your device (unless it is included in your own iCloud/device backup, which Apple manages).
2. Information collected automatically
Usage analytics — Google Firebase Analytics
We use Firebase Analytics, a service provided by Google, to count how the app is used. It collects:
- App events we define, such as: app opened, onboarding started/completed (and which step), screen and tab viewed, paywall shown/closed/purchase completed/restored, reminder notification opened, review prompt shown. Some events include simple values like the screen name, where the paywall was shown from, whether you are a Premium user, or how many birthdays you have saved (a number only — never names, dates or notes).
- Events Firebase records on its own, such as first open, sessions, app updates and in-app purchase events.
- An app instance identifier — a random ID that Firebase creates for this installation. It is not your name, email or Apple ID, and it resets if you reinstall the app.
- Device and app information: device model, iOS version, app version, language, and approximate location at country/region level derived from your IP address.
The app does not request permission to track you (App Tracking Transparency), so iOS does not make the advertising identifier (IDFA) available to the app or to Firebase. The app shows no ads and does not link analytics data to your identity.
Subscriptions — RevenueCat
Premium subscriptions and purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to check and manage your Premium status. RevenueCat receives:
- An anonymous app user ID generated by RevenueCat for this installation (we do not use accounts, so it is not linked to your name or email).
- Purchase information from the App Store: which product you bought, price and currency, transaction dates, trial and renewal/cancellation status, and the App Store receipt/transaction data needed to verify the purchase.
- Basic device and app information: app version, iOS version, country/store and language, used to show the right prices and offers.
We never receive your payment card details; payments are processed by Apple.
What we do not collect
- No crash-reporting SDK (such as Crashlytics) is included in the app. If you opt in to share data with developers in iOS settings, Apple may share crash reports with us under Apple's own privacy policy.
- No contacts, photos, location (GPS), health data, microphone or camera.
- No email address, phone number or account information.
3. How we use the information
- To provide Premium features and restore your purchases.
- To understand which features are used, find problems and improve the app, including the onboarding and the subscription screen.
- We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it.
4. Third parties
| Provider | Purpose | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase Analytics (Google LLC) | Anonymous usage analytics | https://policies.google.com/privacy and https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| RevenueCat, Inc. | Subscription and purchase management | https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy |
| Apple (App Store, StoreKit) | Payments, subscriptions, app distribution | https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ |
These providers process data on our behalf and may store it on servers in the United States or other countries.
5. Data retention
- On-device data stays until you delete it in the app or delete the app.
- Firebase Analytics event data is kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics property (up to 14 months) and then deleted automatically; aggregated reports without identifiers may be kept longer.
- RevenueCat purchase records are kept while we use the service, because they are needed to verify and restore subscriptions and for financial and tax records. You can ask us to delete them (see below).
6. Your choices and rights
- You can use the app without creating an account and without giving us any personal details.
- You can delete any birthday in the app, or delete the app to remove all on-device data.
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone.
- Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data. Because we do not know who you are, please email us and, if possible, include the Premium transaction ID from your App Store receipt so we can find the related records.
7. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
